Garden designers win two Silver medals at Malvern

A team of students from Warwickshire College was delighted to win two Royal Horticultural Society Silver medals at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show.

The group of eight second year students on the Foundation Degree in Garden and Landscape Design course entered two borders in the Borders without Gardens category in the competition and they both won Silver.

Each border had to be a minimum size of 15 square metres, and the emphasis was on plantsmanship and creativity, with designers choosing their own theme or concept.

Warwickshire College 's two entries were described as:

The Jewelled Box - "This border is designed to engage and enliven the senses with a feast of colour, texture and form. The jewelled colours of purple, plum, red, orange, yellow, lime and green contrast with the elegance of clipped topiary."

Emeralds & Diamonds - "Designed to be a cool sanctuary, this border showcases plants that can cope with varying degrees of shade. The planting consists of a rich tapestry of lush, bold and dramatic foliage, punctuated with flowers of white, blue and mauve."
